A comprehensive cleanliness drive is set to sweep across Kodagu on Monday, uniting tourism stakeholders under the Swachh Abhiyan initiative. The campaign will meticulously target temples, prominent tourist attractions, and district and taluk centers throughout the region. This collaborative effort was formalized during a meeting led by assistant commissioner Nitin Chakki.
The drive encompasses a wide array of significant locations. Holy places including Talacauvery and Bhagamandala, along with natural wonders like Chelavara Falls and Abbi Falls, will receive focused attention. Historical landmarks such as Omkareshwar Temple, Nalknad Palace, and Madikeri Fort are also included in the cleanup.
Further efforts will extend to adventure sports areas and natural sites in Kushalnagar taluk, such as Dubare River Rafting and Cauvery Nisargadhama. Somwarpet taluk's Honnamma lake and several waterfalls, including Mallalli Waterfall, will also be cleaned. Ponnampet taluk's Barapole River Rafting and Irpu Waterfalls are part of the plan.
Nitin Chakki highlighted the widespread cooperation from government and non-government organizations for this 'Swacha and Sundara Kodagu' campaign. Leaders from various tourism and commerce associations attended a preparatory meeting, offering valuable suggestions for the drive's success.
