- 24 king cobra hatchlings were released into the wild after nest protection.
- Villagers and forest officials collaborated to safeguard the nest for six weeks.
- This success highlights community involvement in wildlife conservation efforts.

In a remarkable display of community-led conservation, Rajampeta village, situated in Anakapalle's Chodavaram Forest Range, has achieved a significant milestone. On June 6, 2026, a king cobra nest was discovered, prompting a collaborative effort between the A.P. Forest Department, local residents, and the Eastern Ghats Wildlife Society.
This joint initiative ensured the nest's round-the-clock protection for nearly six weeks. The dedicated efforts culminated on July 17, 2026, when all 24 king cobra hatchlings successfully emerged. These young snakes were then released into the Sankaram Reserve Forest, marking a triumph for the species.
Forest officials lauded the operation as a major conservation success, emphasizing the crucial role of villagers in ensuring the nest's safety. This achievement is also attributed to the support of the Minister of Forests and the government's H.A.N.U.M.A.N. initiative, which promotes human-wildlife coexistence. The Eastern Ghats Wildlife Society provided vital technical support and raised local awareness.
