The Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Kumar, presided over a preparatory meeting in Mandya, where he outlined the plans for the golden jubilee celebrations.
The main event will be held on the Mandya University premises, and various committees have been constituted to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations. The KSPCB has allocated a grant of ₹2 lakh to each taluk for organizing programs as part of the anniversary celebrations.
The celebrations will focus on raising awareness about different forms of pollution, such as electronic waste, plastic waste, solid waste, and water pollution. Special programs involving students and the public will be organized to promote environmental consciousness. Pre-event activities will include competitions like essay writing, debate, extempore speech, painting, and quiz contests on topics related to environmental cleanliness, green initiatives, and sustainable development.

Dr. Kumar has directed officials to ensure active participation from organizations like NSS, NCC, Bharat Scouts and Guides, and college students, emphasizing that environmental protection should be an integral part of education.
