Pollution control authorities have warned that the AQI level could rise even higher during the night as residents continue to burst crackers as part of post-Diwali festivities. They have advised senior citizens and people with respiratory issues to remain indoors, as the deteriorating air quality may cause breathing discomfort and related health problems.

Despite the air quality concerns, the city of Kanpur celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm and fervor on October 20. Devotees worshipped Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, and Kuber, lighting earthen oil lamps and seeking wisdom and prosperity.
