Investigative works are slated for La Folie Quay in St Helier, a historic harbour site. Ports of Jersey has applied for permission to conduct environmental and geotechnical surveys on the quay, which dates back to the early 1700s. The site includes the former La Folie Inn and other commercial buildings.
The planned investigations, including boreholes and trial pits, aim to better understand the quay's construction and aid its future management. These works are expected to last between five and six weeks and could begin this summer.
Ports of Jersey has aspirations to transform the 32,292 sq ft site into a hotel, with a target date of July 2025. The quay, the former inn, and South Pier House are recognized as listed buildings of historical significance.
