Jersey has experienced its warmest May on record, according to the Met Office. The island recorded an average temperature of 16.5C (61.7F) for the month, which was 0.7C (33.2F) above the previous record.
Multiple temperature records were shattered during May. The hottest day of the month, and indeed the hottest May or June day since records began in 1894, was 34.2C (93.6F) recorded on May 26.
Adding to the extreme weather, Jersey also witnessed an unusually early five-day heatwave between June 24 and June 28. This period marked the earliest occurrence of a heatwave in any recorded year for the island.
