Summary
- An injured Indian Spectacled Cobra underwent a rare CT scan.
- The scan was performed at Fredna Vet Diagnostics in Navi Mumbai.
- Veterinarians used a nerve block for immobilization, avoiding general anesthesia.

An adult Indian Spectacled Cobra, injured at a Chembur construction site, recently underwent a successful CT scan at Fredna Vet Diagnostics (FVD) in Navi Mumbai. This procedure was crucial for fully treating the snake's midsection injuries. After recovery, the cobra was released back into its natural habitat.
Diagnosing the cobra presented unique challenges. FVD utilized high-resolution thin-section imaging with multiplanar reconstruction. To ensure the snake remained still without general anesthesia, a targeted local nerve block was administered, safely immobilizing it for the scan.
The CT examination revealed a right-sided rib fracture with mild displacement, subcutaneous air pockets, and soft tissue irregularities. Importantly, the scan confirmed no major organ compromise or vertebral damage, aiding veterinarians in effective treatment planning.
This case highlights the expanding role of advanced imaging in reptile and exotic animal medicine. Fredna Vet Diagnostics emphasized how CT technology offers precise evaluation of delicate structures in challenging wildlife trauma cases.
