Japan firm invests Rs 200 Cr in India's water tech

Daiki Axis India, a subsidiary of the Japan-based Daiki Axis, is set to invest around Rs 200 crore in establishing its third manufacturing facility in India, situated in Tumakuru, Karnataka. This strategic expansion is driven by the significant demand for sustainable wastewater treatment and water recycling solutions within the country. The new plant will focus on manufacturing and assembling sewage treatment systems employing Japan's advanced 'Johkasou' technology. This proprietary system facilitates decentralized wastewater treatment and reuse, addressing a critical need as India grapples with rising urbanization and industrial growth. The facility is expected to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities and reduce reliance on imports, thereby accelerating the deployment of effective wastewater treatment solutions nationwide. India's growing urban population and industrial expansion have placed considerable pressure on its water resources. Approximately 72 billion liters of sewage are generated daily in India, with a substantial portion of untreated wastewater entering rivers and other water bodies due to inadequate treatment capacity. Daiki Axis's investment aligns with the Indian government's 'Make in India' initiative and its vision for sustainable urban development and improved sanitation standards. The emphasis on circular water use and wastewater reuse is creating a robust market for such decentralized sewage treatment solutions. Daiki Axis currently operates two other manufacturing facilities in India, located in Baroda, Gujarat, and Palwal, Haryana.
