Monsoon Fury: India braces for week of heavy to very heavy rain

India is bracing for a week of significant rainfall as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts widespread downpours across large parts of the country. Northwest, east, and northeast India are particularly expected to experience heavy to very heavy rain due to active weather systems.
Northwest India, including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, will see enhanced rainfall from August 3 to August 7. Central India is also under active monsoon conditions, with widespread rain expected over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh.
Eastern India, notably Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, will receive heavy showers. The northeast states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, and others, are also set for heavy to very heavy rainfall. The west coast, from Konkan & Goa to Kerala and Karnataka, will continue to see widespread rain.
In addition to heavy precipitation, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-60 kmph) are anticipated across several states. The IMD has issued warnings for fishermen, advising them against venturing into the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal due to squally weather and rough sea conditions.
