Leopard Scare Grips India: Sightings Spark Panic
22 Jan
Summary
- Leopards are increasingly sighted near human settlements due to habitat loss.
- Seven people were injured in recent leopard attacks in Nagpur.
- Authorities are patrolling and urging residents to stay cautious.

Leopard sightings have become a source of growing concern and panic among residents in India, with encounters with the big cats becoming more frequent. In Nagpur's Pardi area, a leopard was sighted near a construction site, captured on video before fleeing from crowds. A response team was dispatched but the animal had already disappeared.
Tragically, the same leopard is believed to have injured seven people just a day later. Forest department and wildlife teams successfully located, tranquilized, and rescued the animal. This follows another leopard rescue from a house in November, indicating a pattern of increasing human-wildlife conflict in the region.
