This means the airport now restores more water to nature than it consumes, a first for an Indian airport handling over 40 million passengers annually.

The accomplishment was driven by extensive groundwater recharge efforts, including 625 rainwater-harvesting structures and two newly installed underground reservoirs with a total capacity of 9 million liters. Additionally, a 16.6 million liters per day zero-liquid discharge Sewage Treatment Plant ensures all wastewater is recycled.

Treated water from the STP is repurposed for HVAC systems, landscape irrigation, and toilet flushing.
