This situation poses serious health risks, as sewage has even entered communal water sumps. Damaged stormwater drains and collapsed sections exacerbate the problem, becoming hazards hidden by the sewage. Local businesses are also impacted, with unpleasant environments and flooded access deterring customers.
Residents have repeatedly urged the SCB to conduct thorough inspections, repair infrastructure, manage waste, and implement permanent solutions. They cite a lack of accountability from officials, with complaints over the past two years yielding no meaningful action. An SCB official has acknowledged the complaints and promised prompt inspection and resolution.
