He was among the first dogs in Australia trained to detect koalas by scent, a groundbreaking method that proved highly effective in locating the vulnerable marsupials amidst the crisis.
Bear's contributions earned him numerous accolades, including an Animal of the Year award. He will now enjoy a peaceful retirement on the Sunshine Coast, playing fetch and receiving belly rubs.
