The Upper Ganga Canal, a vital water source flowing through Haridwar's Har-ki-Pauri, is scheduled for closure starting Tuesday midnight. This annual cleaning and maintenance period will extend until November 8. The UP irrigation department has indicated a need for approximately Rs 1 to 1.25 crore for essential desilting tasks, although the budget for these works has not yet been officially sanctioned.
