Gurugram's Air Quality Overhaul: New Plan for 2025-26

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has established a comprehensive annual action plan for 2025-2026 designed to significantly curb air pollution. This initiative places a strong emphasis on transforming transportation, effectively managing road dust, and improving construction waste disposal, while also focusing on expanding green spaces across the city.

The newly adopted strategy aligns with national guidelines and targets critical pollution sources, including vehicular emissions and construction activities. Key measures involve boosting public transport with more e-buses and CNG buses, alongside expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure to reduce reliance on private vehicles. Efforts to combat road dust include mechanized sweeping, water sprinkling, and deploying anti-smog guns.

Furthermore, the plan mandates strict dust control at construction sites and enhances waste management with initiatives like the Basai C&D waste processing plant and plans for additional facilities. A major long-term project at the Bandhwari landfill aims to clear approximately 1,600,000 metric tonnes of legacy waste by March 2028, supported by the development of modern waste-processing infrastructure.
