The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city, anticipating light to moderate rainfall on July 1, followed by thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds from July 2 to July 6.
Across Haryana, the highest temperature recorded was 43.5°C in Rohtak, while Bhiwani saw the lowest at 25.5°C. The state faced a significant rainfall deficit in June, with Haryana receiving 30.5 mm against a normal of 54.7 mm, marking a 44% deficit. Gurugram specifically recorded a 37% deficit in June.
Officials noted that the monsoon's delay in Gurugram cannot be solely attributed to El Nino, as rainfall patterns fluctuate annually. Meanwhile, Gurugram's air quality index stood at 254 on Tuesday, placing it in the 'poor' category, with one monitoring station recording an AQI of 328 in the 'very poor' category.
