Gurugram Roads Get ₹46 Lakh Deep Clean Before Monsoon
15 Jun
Summary
- GMDA tender issued for ₹46.45 lakh debris removal on key roads.
- Project aims to prevent dumping and reduce monsoon waterlogging.
- Estimated 2,500 cubic metres of debris to be removed this year.

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has initiated a significant cleanup effort with a tender valued at ₹46.45 lakh. This project focuses on removing debris and accumulated dust from master roads spanning Sectors 81 to 95. The drive is part of a year-long commitment to combat illegal dumping of construction waste and alleviate waterlogging issues during the monsoon season.
The tender, open for bidding until June 16, designates GMDA to handle debris removal on crucial road stretches, complementing the Municipal Corporation of Manesar's routine cleaning. Officials anticipate removing approximately 2,500 cubic metres of excavated soil and debris over the year. This proactive measure also includes the deployment of sewer suction pump sets with 8,000-litre tankers during the rainy season to manage water accumulation effectively.
Residents have voiced support for the initiative, noting that dust accumulation remains a persistent challenge. They point to undeveloped green belts and central verges as sources of loose soil contributing to the problem, which can degrade local air quality and reduce carriageway width. The GMDA's plan involves using earthmovers and mechanical sweepers to transport dust to designated sites, ensuring road usability and improved sanitary conditions.
