The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is introducing a monthly 'clean ward' competition to enhance sanitation across the city. This initiative will evaluate each ward on set cleanliness standards, with top performers receiving recognition. The competition focuses on continuous sanitation efforts, including effective waste management, preventing open dumping, and promoting waste segregation at the source.
Wards will be scored out of 100 points, considering criteria such as regular cleaning, door-to-door waste collection, and maintaining public spaces. Compliance with the single-use plastic ban and the cleanliness of public facilities will also be assessed. A committee led by Additional Commissioner Ravinder Yadav will conduct these evaluations.
Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra highlighted that the competition would foster healthy rivalry and encourage resident participation. MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya stated that the monthly assessments are crucial for monitoring sanitation standards and driving ongoing improvements in waste management and segregation practices.
