Manesar Cracks Down on Illegal Waste Disposal
7 Feb
Summary
- Municipal Corporation of Manesar will register FIRs against offenders.
- Residential societies with closed STPs face punitive action.
- Enforcement agencies must act immediately on violations.

The Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) is intensifying its efforts to combat illegal waste disposal and the discharge of untreated sewage. As of February 7, 2026, the civic body will initiate First Information Reports (FIRs) against individuals and entities found guilty of these offenses. Special focus will be placed on residential societies operating with closed or non-functional sewage treatment plants (STPs).
Commissioner Pradeep Singh mandated that routine inspections be enhanced and that immediate on-the-spot action be taken against violators, moving away from mere warnings. This directive was issued during a review meeting with the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), highlighting environmental and public health concerns. Societies with shut STPs will be reported to the Haryana State Pollution Control Board, with recommendations for further punitive measures, including potential cancellation of occupancy certificates.
