Gurgaon Air Quality Nears 'Very Poor' Zone

Gurgaon's air quality worsened on Saturday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) rising to 300. This level is just one point below the threshold for 'very poor' air quality. Two of the city's four monitoring stations reported 'very poor' conditions, with AQI readings of 360 and 333. The remaining stations remained in the 'poor' category.
Forecasters anticipate that the air quality may deteriorate further in the upcoming days. This is due to anticipated weather conditions on Sunday, including low wind speeds and limited ventilation, which are not conducive to pollutant dispersion. Surface winds are expected to be light, further trapping pollutants near the ground.
Particulate pollution levels, including PM2.5 and PM10, remained significantly high across all monitoring stations. PM2.5 concentrations at Sector 51 reached 500 µg/m³, vastly exceeding the World Health Organisation's 24-hour guideline of 15 µg/m³. PM10 levels also showed similar trends, with Sector 51 recording 500 µg/m³, far above the WHO's guideline of 45 µg/m³.
