- Water spraying and covering construction materials are key anti-dust measures.
Gurgaon's Municipal Corporation (MCG) has mandated a one-month deadline to clear main roads of dust and debris, enhancing pollution control efforts. Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya directed officials to identify and resolve sanitation and engineering issues, establishing clear accountability and deadlines for each zone. This accelerated action aligns with intensified air quality management measures.
Officials are tasked with surveying their zones within a week to assess road, footpath, and green belt conditions, ensuring timely removal of construction, horticultural, and general waste. The MCG is also actively combating open waste burning through regular monitoring and issuing challans to violators.
To mitigate dust, the MCG is employing truck-mounted anti-smog guns for water spraying on major roads. Construction sites and vendors are required to cover building materials to prevent dust dispersal, with repeat offenders facing penalties. Citizens are urged to cooperate by preventing open burning and waste accumulation, and reporting violations.
The MCG has also revised its dust control cell, with senior officials now directly responsible for dust mitigation. This includes coordinated efforts in road maintenance, sweeping, water sprinkling, and dust disposal, along with a structured monthly monitoring framework.
