Guntur Lakes Get Eco-Revamp for Recreation
23 Aug
Summary
- Two key Guntur water bodies are set for major development.
- Projects aim to enhance recreation and ecological benefits.
- Plans include walking tracks, green spaces, and public amenities.

Guntur's Nallapadu Cheruvu and the lakes within NTR Manasa Sarovaram are scheduled for a comprehensive development by the Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC). These initiatives go beyond mere beautification, aiming to reintegrate these water bodies into the city's public and ecological fabric. New features will include walking tracks, landscaped green spaces, and protective railings.
NTR Manasa Sarovaram, a 50.29-acre site, will feature an integrated lake-development model focusing on bioremediation and public use. Nallapadu Cheruvu, a smaller 6.25-acre water body, is designated as a district-level park. GMC Commissioner K Mayur Ashok emphasized that revitalized water bodies can serve as living ecological spaces, aiding rainwater retention and supporting biodiversity.
