Summary
- A new forest will be developed using the Miyawaki method.
- At least 100,000 native trees will be planted to enhance green cover.
- Catch Foundation will maintain the plantation for three years.

Greater Noida is set to significantly increase its green cover with a new urban forest project. The Greater Noida authority has designated land between sectors XU-3 and Omicron-1 for this development, which aims to plant at least 100,000 native trees. This initiative is supported by corporate social responsibility programs from PNB Housing Finance and Catch Foundation.
The project will employ the Miyawaki method, an approach known for creating dense native forests rapidly in urban settings. This method allows urban forests to mature much faster than traditional plantations. The goal is to establish an 'oxygen bank' for the local area.
Maintenance and monitoring of the saplings will be handled by the Catch Foundation for a period of three years. Their responsibilities include irrigation, soil nourishment, and ensuring the developing forest becomes a self-sustaining ecosystem. Previously, the authority utilized this method in areas like Surajpur collectorate and Khanpur village.
