9 Mar
Summary
- Residents face a sea of mud due to ongoing construction.
- Developer Taylor Wimpey has been contacted multiple times.
- Construction impacts Havannah Nature Reserve flooding.

Residents of the Great Park housing estate in Newcastle are experiencing severe disruption due to ongoing construction, which has left parts of the estate resembling a 'sea of mud'. Jackie Gardner, a resident of six and a half years, reported that despite contacting developer Taylor Wimpey multiple times, little action has been taken to mitigate the mud and debris on estate roads.
The Great Park Consortium, which includes Taylor Wimpey, stated they are actively working to maintain road cleanliness and safety amidst the construction. However, residents on the Brunton Rise section of the estate continue to face appalling conditions. Concerns are also mounting regarding the construction's impact on local infrastructure, including alleged contributions to flooding at Havannah Nature Reserve. The consortium has committed to funding design changes to alleviate the flooding issue.
