Goa Tiger's Demise: Wild Dogs Suspected Killers
11 May
Summary
- Decomposed tiger carcass discovered in Goa's Kushavati district on May 2.
- Missing nails and teeth initially suggested poaching activity.
- Forest Minister suspects wild dogs, not poachers, killed the tiger.

The decomposed remains of an adult tiger were discovered in Sacordem village, Kushavati district, Goa, on May 2. The condition of the carcass, notably missing its nails and teeth, prompted an immediate investigation into the possibility of poaching. Initial findings, however, suggest a different cause of death.
State Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane has indicated that preliminary investigations point towards a pack of wild dogs as the likely perpetrators. He stated that while the official investigation is ongoing, poaching has been tentatively ruled out. The minister also noted that tigers frequently traverse into Goa's forest areas from the Kali Tiger Reserve in neighboring Karnataka, suggesting this animal may have originated from there.
