Two peregrine falcon chicks welcomed at Glasgow's City Chambers have been named Isa and Winston, a tribute to iconic characters from the beloved Scottish sitcom, Still Game. The public overwhelmingly chose these names through a vote, with the chosen moniker receiving 182 submissions.
These chicks are the offspring of Bonnie and Clyde, a pair of peregrine falcons who have been nesting at the council headquarters since 2023. Previously, the parent falcons successfully raised young at the University of Glasgow tower between 2023 and 2025. The naming choice deeply connects the birds to Glasgow's cultural heritage, mirroring the sitcom characters who reside in a fictional tower block named Osprey Heights.
The Glasgow Peregrine Project, a collaboration involving multiple conservation organizations, has monitored these birds since 2022. This initiative highlights the ongoing efforts to protect and study these magnificent birds of prey. Peregrine falcons, the fastest animals on Earth, are a protected species known for their incredible diving speeds exceeding 240mph.
