Summary
- Event accepts electronics, mattresses, Styrofoam, and glass.
- Nissan partnership enters fifth year, supporting sustainability.
- Over 155,000 pounds of materials diverted from landfills previously.

A drive-through recycling event is scheduled for April 11, offering Middle Tennessee residents a convenient way to handle hard-to-recycle materials. This initiative, now in its fifth year, is a collaboration between Nissan and the Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC) at Nissan's Franklin headquarters.
The event aims to celebrate Earth Day by providing a solution for items such as electronics, mattresses, Styrofoam blocks, and glass. This effort is part of TEC's broader mission to enhance recycling accessibility and decrease landfill reliance.
Past events have been highly successful, with Camila Palmer, Recycling Roundup program manager at TEC, noting that over 1,350 residents and 165 volunteers have participated, diverting more than 155,000 pounds of materials in the last three years.
Nissan's commitment to sustainability, as highlighted by Candy Listz, a manager at Nissan Sustainability, involves reusing or recycling discarded items to reduce waste and promote environmental consciousness. Attendees can also explore Nissan vehicles and engage with environmental partners.
Further recycling opportunities are planned, including another roundup in November at the Nissan Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant. Detailed information on accepted materials and future events is available on TEC's website.
