Heroic Rescue: One Python Captured, Two Still on the Loose

In a surprising turn of events, three ball pythons were spotted roaming in a New York City park on September 24th, 2025. The unexpected snake sighting caused a stir among local residents, who watched the reptiles cross a city street.

Fortunately, the animal rescue organization Puppy Kitty NY City was able to apprehend one of the pythons, a 4-foot-long snake that they named Kevin. The rescue worker who secured the snake used a box to contain it and then transferred it to a bag before placing it in an incubator at the Animal Care Centers of NYC.

However, the other two pythons managed to evade capture and have remained on the loose as of October 1st, 2025. The rescue organization has alerted both the New York Police Department and park officials to the situation, but they fear the uncaught snakes may never be found.

The rescue organization has described this as a "really sad story," as the ball pythons were likely released pets that are not native to the area. Releasing exotic animals in city parks is illegal and punishable by a $1,000 fine.

While the search for the two remaining pythons continues, the rescue organization has expressed their best wishes for the captured snake, Kevin, who has already found a new home in a rescue placement.
