A significant new attraction, England's longest zip wire spanning nearly three-quarters of a mile (1.2km), has officially opened to the public.
Situated adjacent to Honister Slate Mine in the picturesque Lake District, the developers proudly announced its launch on Saturday.
This development marks the culmination of a lengthy planning saga, with the initial planning permission granted in 2018. Prior attempts to secure approval in 2011 and 2012 were unsuccessful. Revised plans were necessary in 2025 due to a relocation of a landing post, with the latest iteration approved in March of that year.
Despite concerns raised by bodies such as Buttermere Parish Council and Friends of the Lake District regarding potential conflicts with the statutory purposes of National Parks, the project received the go-ahead.
The site's directors, Prentice and Piers Wilkinson-Weir, conveyed their immense pride in unveiling the new visitor destination.
