As part of the ongoing Wildlife Week celebrations, the Delhi forest and wildlife department is hosting a series of free daily bird walks at the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary from October 3 to 8. The first walk took place this past Friday, October 3, at 7 AM and lasted 2 to 2.5 hours.
The goal of these guided tours is to create awareness about the diverse bird species found in the city and teach participants how to identify them. Expert birders from the forest department will lead the walks, taking groups of interested students, NGOs, and nature enthusiasts through the sanctuary. In addition to bird watching, visitors will also be taken to the butterfly park inside the sanctuary to learn about the various species and their ecological importance.
According to a senior forest department official, the upcoming walks are designed to engage citizens, particularly young people, in conservation efforts. Various bird experts will be hosting the walks, providing hands-on learning experiences about the sanctuary's rich biodiversity. The Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary, located on the Delhi-Haryana border along the Aravallis, is home to hundreds of bird species and serves as an important biodiversity hotspot in the National Capital Region.
