- A neglected center was transformed with trees, orchard, and wildlife pond.
- The community center serves deprived areas of Plymouth, Devon.

In a remarkable display of community spirit, 87 residents of Devon came together to completely restore the outdoor space of the Mount Wise Neighbourhood Centre in Plymouth. This intensive 24-hour project, supported by the Plymouth and South Devon Community Forest and the Zebra Collective, aimed to revitalize the center's neglected green area.
The transformation included planting numerous trees, establishing a mini community orchard, and creating a wildlife pond. A local artist also contributed a mural, adding a vibrant visual element. This effort addressed the underused and uninviting state of the outdoor space, making it a heart for the community.
The Mount Wise Neighbourhood Centre, previously at risk of closure in 2024, was acquired by the Zebra Collective on an 11-year lease. This project highlights the ongoing need for community resources in Devonport, an area within the top 20% most deprived in England, demonstrating a collective determination to bring the building and its grounds back to life.
