Delhi's Fuel Ban: No PUC, No Go!
25 Oct
Summary
- Fuel stations will deny fuel to vehicles without a valid PUC certificate.
- Vehicles without BS6 standards banned from entering Delhi.
- Parking fees to double, offices to stagger timings and allow WFH.

Starting November 1, 2026, Delhi will enforce a strict 'No Pollution Under Control (PUC), No Fuel' policy as part of its winter pollution mitigation strategy. Fuel stations across the capital will be mandated to deny petrol, diesel, CNG, or LPG to vehicles without a valid PUC certificate. Around 500 fuel stations will utilize Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras to ensure compliance.
Beyond this, vehicles registered outside Delhi that fail to meet BS6 emission standards will face an entry ban from November 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027. Exemptions apply to electric vehicles, CNG vehicles, and those providing essential services. This initiative is part of the government's broader Winter Action Plan, which also includes doubling parking fees at authorized municipal lots and staggering office timings with a 50% work-from-home provision to reduce traffic and emissions.
Further measures in the Winter Action Plan, running until February 28, 2027, involve enhanced construction site monitoring using AI-enabled cameras, with dust-intensive construction activities prohibited from December 10 to January 20. Stricter actions against end-of-life vehicles are also planned. These comprehensive steps aim to significantly curb pollution during Delhi's high-risk winter months.
