The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has initiated efforts to enhance waste management by installing an Aerobin system at Printer Apartments Housing Society in Rohini. This initiative aims to promote waste segregation and encourage composting directly at the source of waste generation.
The Aerobin technology utilizes bio-culture to efficiently convert approximately 10 kg of wet waste into usable compost within a span of 40 days. Notably, this process is designed to occur without producing any unpleasant odors, making it a practical solution for residential areas.
The resulting compost can be effectively used for gardening and landscaping, contributing to greener urban spaces. Wider adoption of such decentralized waste management systems is expected to alleviate pressure on Delhi's landfill sites and bolster efforts for source-level waste segregation. This installation coincided with a comprehensive sanitation drive in the Rohini zone.
