- The plan aims to reduce the current 45% water loss.
- It includes infrastructure overhaul across six zones.

The Delhi government has initiated a 30-year integrated water master plan, alongside a significant overhaul of its water supply infrastructure in six key zones of the city. This ambitious project seeks to ensure water security for the national capital, aligning with the Master Plan for Delhi 2041 by incorporating urban growth projections and environmental considerations.
Expert agencies are being engaged to guide the upgrades, with a critical objective to reduce the current estimated 45% water losses. The plan encompasses short-term (0-5 years), medium-term (5-15 years), and long-term (15-30 years) measures. The entire project is slated for implementation over six years and four months, with a bidding process concluding by May 25.
Delhi faces a daily deficit of 250 million gallons, consuming approximately 1,000 MGD against a requirement of 1,250 MGD. The plan will involve revamping water treatment plants and supply lines, with each zone managed by a single operator. This strategic initiative aims to create a more resilient and efficient water system for the growing population.
