Delhi is currently experiencing severe air pollution, with visuals revealing a dense toxic smog blanketing the city. The average Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached 373, falling into the 'very poor' category. This alarming situation persists even as preparations for the Republic Day parade are underway at India Gate, with AQI readings in the vicinity also classified as 'very poor'.
In a proactive move to combat this environmental crisis, the Delhi Cabinet recently approved a comprehensive strategy. This includes a significant allocation of Rs 100 crore for the rejuvenation of approximately 1,000 water bodies across the capital. The goal is to achieve complete restoration of these water bodies, which play a crucial role in pollution control.
Furthermore, Delhi will soon see its first E-Waste Park established at Holambi Kalan. This state-of-the-art facility, covering 11.5 acres, is designed with a 100 per cent circular, zero-waste model, emphasizing recycling and water reuse. These initiatives signal a strong commitment to improving environmental governance and creating a sustainable urban landscape.
