Joint teams from the Traffic Police and Transport Department conducted extensive checks at the city's entry points, targeting vehicles without valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates.
This strict enforcement is a component of Delhi's comprehensive strategy to mitigate severe air pollution. The Environment Minister noted the campaign's success in reducing incoming vehicle numbers and emphasized the need for inter-state coordination. The period saw a significant increase in PUC certificate issuances, indicating driver compliance.
The crackdown is active under Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan, imposing stringent restrictions on vehicular movement, fuel sales, and construction. Non-BS6 compliant vehicles and those not running on cleaner energy are barred from Delhi-NCR, with exceptions for essential services.
