The central government has approved a significant Rs 5,041 crore scheme aimed at improving air quality in the Delhi-NCR region. This initiative focuses on the phased removal of older, more polluting trucks and buses.
Owners of commercial vehicles registered in Delhi-NCR that do not meet BS-VI emission standards are eligible for financial benefits. These benefits are provided upon scrapping their old vehicles at authorized facilities or selling them to buyers located outside the National Capital Region.
To qualify for these incentives, vehicle owners must commit to purchasing new or used vehicles that are BS-VI compliant or fully electric. These replacement vehicles must also be registered within the Delhi-NCR area, ensuring a transition to cleaner transportation across the region.
