Delhi-NCR Authorities Order Closure of Over 1,500 Polluting Industrial Units

As of November 18, 2025, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has directed the closure of 1,515 polluting industrial units and construction/demolition sites across the National Capital Region (NCR). This includes 264 units in Delhi, 234 in Haryana, 637 in Uttar Pradesh, and 121 in Rajasthan.
The CAQM's actions are part of a broader effort to tackle the region's severe air pollution crisis. Authorities have also commissioned the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to conduct a study through IIT Kanpur, re-examining particulate matter (PM) emission standards for the most polluting industrial sectors operating in Delhi-NCR.
