Delhi Boosts Air Quality Network Before Winter

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) is installing 13 new Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS) across the capital. These stations are anticipated to be operational before the winter months, significantly enhancing real-time air quality tracking.
The initiative aims to reduce the distance between monitoring stations to approximately five kilometers. This expansion, the first in nearly nine years, will strengthen the city's existing air quality monitoring network.
An agency will be selected to supply, install, commission, and maintain the new stations for 10 years. The monitoring will cover key pollutants like PM2.5, PM10, SO₂, NOₓ, CO, O₃, NH₃, and BTEX compounds.
The new stations are designed to fill monitoring gaps and provide hyperlocal pollution data, especially during winter when air quality deteriorates. This will support timely interventions to manage pollution levels effectively.
