Delhi's EV station choked by garbage
11 Mar
Summary
- An EV charging station in East of Kailash is unusable due to garbage.
- Locals have endured a garbage problem for years near Sapna Park.
- Civic negligence has made a busy road messy and chaotic for pedestrians.

In East of Kailash, South Delhi, an EV charging station installed in 2024 has been rendered useless by persistent garbage dumping. This busy stretch, near Sapna Park, has been a recurring problem for locals for years, with waste accumulating around the charging point. Residents describe the situation as chaotic, with footpaths blocked by heaps of plastic bags, food scraps, and litter.
The dhalao, or garbage collection point, was removed over three years ago, but residents report that people continued to dump rubbish there. This has led to the waste spilling onto the road and even nearing the park entrance, forcing pedestrians to navigate through moving traffic. The stench is unbearable for those trying to pass through the area.
Despite the Public Works Department owning the road and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi being responsible for waste collection, neither has adequately addressed the issue. Residents are frustrated, with one local stating that the charging station is inaccessible due to the rubbish, and another lamenting the blocked footpaths and roads due to civic negligence.
