Delhi Launches Portal to Tackle C&D Waste
15 Mar
Summary
- Online portal launched for construction and demolition waste collection.
- Aims to curb illegal dumping and promote recycling in the city.
- Citizens receive free collection for waste up to one metric tonne.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a new online portal to manage the collection of construction and demolition (C&D) waste. This digital platform aims to streamline the process for both households and project sites, thereby curbing illegal dumping and promoting recycling. The initiative also ensures compliance with the forthcoming C&D Waste Management Rules, 2025.
Through the portal, citizens can request waste collection, which is then matched with empanelled transporters for transport to authorized collection centers or recycling plants. The system provides end-to-end traceability to minimize environmental hazards. No charges will be levied for waste up to one metric tonne; beyond this limit, MCD's prescribed rates will apply. A toll-free helpline, 155305, is available for assistance.
Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh highlighted that the portal, accessible via web or QR code, simplifies the request process for various stakeholders. It is designed to reduce illegal dumping and air pollution. Delhi generates thousands of tonnes of C&D waste daily. The portal helps improve accountability, reduce dust pollution, and prevent encroachments from random dumping. The city produces around 6,000 metric tonnes of C&D waste daily, with approximately 5,000 tonnes processed at existing facilities. Plans are underway to increase the capacity of current plants and establish a new facility in Okhla.
