15 Feb
Summary
- 120 mist spray systems installed at Delhi airport to curb air pollution.
- Systems aim to reduce flight disruptions caused by smog.
- Expansion to 600 poles planned for improved dust control.

New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport has introduced 120 mist spray systems to combat air pollution. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the GMR Group initiative on Saturday, calling it a vital step for controlling pollution and enhancing Delhi's environmental standing. These systems are designed to reduce dust and smog, thereby preventing flight disruptions.
The Chief Minister announced plans to scale up the installation to 600 poles for more effective dust control around the airport. This initiative is part of a larger clean-air agenda for Delhi.
Delhi's broader roadmap includes electrifying public buses by 2029, expanding the metro network, and developing EV charging infrastructure. Other measures involve deploying over 1,000 water sprinklers and using AI for dust monitoring at construction sites.
