Dolphin Found Dead on Riverbank Stuns Locals
17 Mar
Summary
- A dead common dolphin was discovered on a riverbank.
- The discovery was made by a father and son duo.
- Experts consider such a find exceptional for the area.

A father and son were astonished to find a dead common dolphin on the riverbank near Mepal, Cambridgeshire. Glen and Archie Wayman made the surprising discovery on Sunday while driving home from work. Glen Wayman spotted the marine animal near the New Bedford River.
British Divers Marine Life Rescue had previously been alerted to the dolphin. A volunteer had monitored the animal, but sadly, it was not seen alive afterward. Experts noted that finding a dolphin in this inland area is highly unusual, distinguishing it from sightings further downstream towards coastal regions.
The exact cause of the dolphin's death is yet to be determined and will be clarified after a post-mortem examination. Experts suggest the dolphin may have become stranded while seeking food or due to illness. The charity advises the public to document and report any inland wildlife discoveries.
