These farms supply milk to Saputo Dairy UK, which produces Cathedral City cheese and other dairy products.
The RSPCA has strongly condemned the violence, labeling it "completely unacceptable." In response to the revelations, Saputo Dairy UK suspended one farm, Polshea Farm in Bodmin, as a supplier for two weeks. The Red Tractor farming assurance scheme also suspended Polshea Farm's certification. Investigations by government and council animal-welfare officials are underway.
Activists claim the cows were controlled through "force and fear." While one farm has addressed urgent issues and resumed supply after implementing anger management training and CCTV, investigations into further footage from another farm, Trevear Farm in Penzance, are ongoing. The government's Animal and Plant Health Agency is actively investigating these serious breaches of animal welfare legislation.
