Coventry Green Becomes War Zone Due to Cars
2 Mar
Summary
- Land on Langley Croft is now a dangerous eyesore.
- A 350-year-old oak tree is being destroyed by cars.
- Residents report repeated complaints to housing management.

A cherished green space on Langley Croft in Coventry has deteriorated into a hazardous and unsightly area due to persistent parking by vehicles. Once a peaceful spot for recreation, the land now resembles a "war zone," according to local resident Pedro Olivier.
The area is home to a significant 350-year-old oak tree, which is also being negatively impacted. Residents like Samantha Sutor, who moved to the area partly for the safe play space for children, have expressed heartbreak over the transformation.
Despite notices from Citizen Housing, the responsible entity, asking people not to park on the grass, these requests have been ignored. This ongoing issue poses a safety risk, particularly for pregnant individuals and the elderly, as the ground has become uneven and treacherous.
Citizen Housing stated they understand the frustrations and noted that recent rainfall has exacerbated the problem. While they own the land, they manage only a portion of the surrounding homes. They are now conducting a further assessment to explore potential long-term solutions to address the damage and the limited parking availability.
