- Project collects stories about trees and their local significance.
- Prints will be exhibited in Cornwall to inspire tree planting.

An artist in Cornwall has initiated a unique project to commemorate the vast number of trees lost or damaged during Storm Goretti. Woodworker Charlie Thacker aims to honor the significance of these trees by creating art from their rings. He is collecting stories from locals about their connection to the trees or the trees' historical uses.
Thacker will sand the tree rings to a high grit, soak them, and then create prints. A limited run of about 15 prints per tree will be exhibited in Cornwall. He also hopes to collaborate with a local artist to create a map pinpointing the original locations of the trees.
The project intends to visually represent the widespread damage caused by Storm Goretti and to inspire the community to plant more trees. Thacker has already gathered 32 rings from approximately 12 to 15 different species and is seeking funding to support the initiative. The response from the public sharing tree stories has been overwhelmingly positive.
