The decision comes despite over 320 complaints from local residents about the development. Many in the community have strongly opposed the project, citing concerns about the impact on the local infrastructure and character of the village. However, the developer argued that the planned homes would be located in a "sustainable location."
Initially, Davidsons Developments had proposed building 150 homes on the site, but this was revised during the planning process. The narrowly approved 115-home scheme will now move forward, much to the dismay of the majority of Markfield residents who had objected to the plans.
