Coimbatore is undertaking a significant environmental transformation at its Vellalore dumpyard. Over 41,850 saplings, comprising 64 native tree species, have been planted across 41 acres since April 2025, with ongoing maintenance ensuring their growth.

This green initiative is part of a broader city-wide effort to conserve natural resources. Complementing the plantation drive, the Coimbatore Corporation is developing a 250-tonne-per-day Bio-CNG plant.
