On November 3rd, 2025, a flamingo named Frankie managed to escape from the Paradise Park wildlife sanctuary in Hayle, Cornwall. The young female flamingo, hatched on July 1st, 2025, had her feathers clipped but was still able to take flight from the sanctuary's walled garden.
Sanctuary staff immediately began searching the area for Frankie, and have been responding to reported sightings of the runaway flamingo. She was spotted near Porthtowan, about 13 miles away, on Sunday morning, and then again above Copperhouse Pool in Hayle later that afternoon. However, as of November 3rd, the sanctuary has yet to locate and retrieve Frankie.
The Paradise Park team is deeply concerned for Frankie's wellbeing, as she is uneven and vulnerable with her clipped wing. They are urging the public to report any further sightings of the missing flamingo, in the hopes of bringing her safely back to the sanctuary. The search continues as the staff at Paradise Park remain desperate to find and recover their young, adventurous resident.
