China's National Park Forum Spotlights Sustainable Development

The National Forestry and Grassland Administration is set to host the Third National Park Forum in Chengdu, Sichuan, from August 18-19, 2025. The event, organized in partnership with the Sichuan provincial government, aims to promote high-level protection and high-quality development of China's national parks.
According to Sun Hongyan, the deputy director of the administration's nature reserve department, the forum will feature an opening ceremony, a main forum, three subforums, and a thematic achievement exhibition. The main forum will showcase the latest accomplishments in national park development, with distinguished experts and scholars delivering keynote addresses and offering strategic recommendations.
The Sichuan authorities are committed to making the forum a model for sustainable events. A pioneering system for calculating carbon neutrality will be introduced, and any emissions generated during the forum will be offset through the procurement of carbon credits. The organizers also plan to use environmentally friendly materials, such as bamboo for nameplates and biodegradable bamboo fiber for badges, to reduce plastic consumption.
Chen Zongqian, the deputy director of the Sichuan Provincial Forestry and Grassland Administration, stated that the forum will serve as a new national model for sustainable events, showcasing Sichuan's dedication to eco-friendly and low-carbon initiatives.
